ABSTRACT: The study aims to highlight the distinctive characteristics of functional autonomies not only by reference to the article that the Author wrote concerning Chambers of Commerce (the most important functional autonomies in Italian public law) but also to the whole of his works. In the same time, the study shows how the fi gure of functional autonomies could be considered, in the Author’s thought, a powerful tool to achieve an objective and goal oriented public administration.
